Exciting News on Our Doorstep: A New RSPCA Centre is Coming to Lowton!

At Dogs Country Club, rescue, rehabilitation and second chances are close to our hearts. The thought of having a world-class facility doing exactly that work — right here in our community — fills us with so much hope and pride.

So when we heard the RSPCA’s plans for a brand new, state-of-the-art animal welfare centre right here in Lowton, we were all so excited. This is genuinely wonderful news for our community.

What’s Planned?

The RSPCA is proposing to build a specialist centre at Mossley Hall Farm in Lowton, bringing together veterinary care, assessment, rehabilitation and rehoming services all on one site. The facility would support animals with complex medical and behavioural needs, taking them all the way from rescue through to recovery. It would be the first national RSPCA rehabilitation and rehoming centre in the entire North West — a region that has long needed exactly this kind of dedicated resource.  –  Wigan Today

Why Does This Matter?

The North West is facing a real animal welfare crisis. With rising reports of cruelty and neglect, and the region has disproportionately high levels of animals needing rescue compared to the rest of the country. Right now, existing RSPCA centres are so full that thousands of animals are on waiting lists for help. This new centre would change that — dramatically.

Last year alone, 5,072 dogs, cats and other animals needed rescuing across the region. A dedicated facility on our doorstep means those animals get the specialist care they truly deserve, without the delays that can cost lives.

Attending the Consultation

We’re so proud to say that Dogs Country Club didn’t just cheer from the sidelines — our Manager Snezhana attended the RSPCA public consultation in person to show our support for this incredible project. She had the opportunity to meet local MPs, and we were truly touched that some of them already know Dogs Country Club through our Training Classes. It felt like a real coming together of people who genuinely care about animals and about this community.
